– What is Mental Health?

WHO’s (World Health Organization) has the following article named : Mental Health : Strengthening our Response as over view of mental health. I hope all reading this article will also take time to visit the above article to gain and spread awareness.
However, I am not going to put in copied texts from 1000’s other articles and rather give my own views on the topic. So kindly don’t hesitate in correcting me if you find something objectionable and I would love to hear your ideas, experiences and stories too.

To me, mental health is wanting to live. Genuinely wanting to exist, having the energy to live, love and laugh. Knowing what is in our control and what is beyond our control. The things which we averse, changing the one’s we can and accepting what we can’t change. All of us have obstacles in life, whether overtly visible or battles with own consciousness. Having problems doesn’t necessarily mean a unhealthy mind, but rather when that problem starts to feel like a chain, suffocating us, exhausting us to a point when it becomes a hinderance in everyday life : relationships, work, eating, sleeping and living. Mental Health is learning how to continue to live , despite any curve balls life throws at us. As you will read in the WHO article above, mental health is more than absence of mental disorders , varying for everyone of us.
Do not confuse it with toxic positivity though. It does not mean to believe that everything is okay when it’s not. It’s not that happiness is the only emotion you feel. It is rather the ability and acceptance that life is not a straight line or smooth curve. It has it’s ups and downs and sharp ends. It’s feeling all emotions of sadness, grief, anger ,even jealousy and disappointment. It is not letting your feelings control you and your life without your consent. Good mental health is moving with these rough and imperfect shapes of life, without loosing ourselves or hating our life for having a structure different from what we imagined.

– What are mental disorders?

WHO : Mental Disorders
Any mental disorder ever does not mean that you are weak or want to trouble others. A lot of mental disorders have genetics involved and others include life situations, incidents, social situations, and even neurological factors. It is not in our control and no one’s choice to be ill. As if suffering and living an uncomfortable life is not bad enough, stigma around the topic keeps people from receiving the help they deserve and need. Every human deserves a healthy life, be it physically, mentally or emotionally. With COVID, I witnessed the increase in awareness for importance of mental health but sadly so did the number of people suffering from disorders.

– How to help YOURSELF

Before helping others I would love for all of us to check in with ourselves. One can’t pour with an empty cup.

Regarding the last image I really want to discuss that personally my self talk had a huge impact on my mental health. At a point I used to loathe myself, called myself lazy-stupid-dumb-bich and what not. Considered myself the worst person I ever met and treated as such. After wrecking my self esteem and belief, I finally realized that I hurt myself more than any external factor did. I was a major villain in my own story or as we (me and Sakshi) call it, the bitchy inner voice a.k.a bitch voice was. It treated me horribly. Gave me so much criticism , without any evidence ! (Honestly I also considered positive self talk a hoax advice at first) . Then I after tired of trying all sorts of music and art and well binging , gave switching up self communication a try and oh boy! I am happy now and so so much more confident than I have ever been in life. I started talking to myself as I would to my best friend. I was considerate of everything I told myself and filtered out the sharp words.

Really, really I would suggest to start noticing how you talk to yourselves. We all do have sort of a child inside us, afraid of pain and harsh treatment. Kindness is what it needs and you are the one who can protect, nurture and make it feel safe. So next time do not forget to love that kid and shoo away the bitch voice.

Ways in which I try to manage my mental health
  • Music
  • Perfume : there is this fix perfume which acts as a reminder to calm down. Like I have conditioned myself to calm down on smelling that particular smell. I spray the perfume and my body remembers to relax
  • Box breathing
Helps disconnecting negative thought loops and calm down when anxious
  • Walking
  • Hydration
  • Positive self talk
  • This year’s resolution sorta but totally worth it and had a huge positive impact: BULLET JOURNALING . It is personalised and sort of my own ways and set ups like gratitude , brain dump, day summary or habit tracking. It has photo gallery I print and paste and really does help me remember the positives which are easily erased by negatives.
  • Actively searching for more ways to better health which makes me feel connected and hence not lonely in struggles.
How To Help Others?

At times we find a lot of stuff about what to do and say but I think its important to know what not to do too. Here are some useful pins I found, content is lesson this post about this topic, will try to add in future posts. Also would want to give you as less or no misleading content and these seem harmless and rather useful from personal feelings.

these really felt good to even look at!
This this hit home , anxiety isn’t a choice. Mental illness is not a choice.

I just want to remind everyone again today that mental health is not some fancy first world issue. It concerns a human life and is important. Mental illness doesn’t discriminate but the resources available for now are meager. Hence this year’s theme seems apt to me : MAKE MENTAL HEALTH AND WELL – BEING FOR ALL A GLOBAL PRIORITY. I hope all of us could reach out to people be it loved ones or professional health and indeed make our mental health and hence ourselves our priority. And last remember-

MENTAL HEALTH IS IMPORTANT !

NO

The oldest, shortest words – “Yes” and “No” – are those which require the most thought.

Why is P2 so harsh and apathetic?

Incident 1
P1. Can I please borrow a pencil ?
P2. No.

Incident 2
P1. Can you please lend me a hand ?
P2. No.

Incident 3
P1. Please let me borrow your car for today?
P2. No.

Incident 4
P1. Please teach me this topic tonight.
P2. No.

P1 is so polite in asking for help , P2 should help them. Now , now wait a second. What if I tell you –
– P2 had only 1 pencil which they needed for their own work.
– P2 had a deadline due in 2 hours for the assignment which would count as 50% of their grade.
– P2 has to pick their parents from airport .
– P2 is yet to revise the left 40 % of the syllabus for tomorrow’s test.

Well, does our P2 seem that bad of a person now ? – NO
‘No’ – a word which we have been conditioned to see in a negative light right from childhood. Saying no to someone asking for help is rude, no to opportunities is entitlement, no to abuse warrants more abuse or shame or being dramatic, no to social norms is rebellion. What we tend to forget is, not all no’s are negative. Wanting our own space is not selfish. No to more than we can handle is not being thankless.

Not every No is negative

Why this topic today?

I have been a people pleaser for as long as I remember. As a kid I would participate in everything I was presented with and felt like a failure for even thinking that I don’t want to do this because ‘I am lucky I am getting so many opportunities, not everyone has them.’ There would be times when every week I have a new art project or competition and I would be complaining to my family about how burdened I am . They would tell me to say no to my teachers but I could never muster up the courage to do so. I would keep helping and listening to mum when told to do something regardless of what I was busy with. I thought that I was a super helpful person as idolized by the society, should listen to elders, help friends and family even if it the cost is my own mental, emotional or physical well being.

(source: pinterest)

All this continued till I was 16, when I was going through tough times and was at a very bad place mentally. Years of internalizing, bitterness and neglecting myself led me to hate everyone I loved, hate my own existence and to a severe burnout. With lockdown, lives finally slowed down enough to give time to rethink habits, patterns and pains. That is when I came across the term Boundaries. I thought boundary always meant division and discord and made people distant, but little did I know they were one of the most crucial parts of mental peace and a fulfilling life.

Boundaries

boundary : a line which marks limits of an area (google definition)

The side of the world I live in or have been exposed to (excluding internet), mental health conversations are fictitious. I still sometimes wonder how come I dabbled into this vast universe of mental and emotional well being. I would describe myself as an abso-lute-lyyy miserable teen 😭. Existential crisis, hormones, sexuality, career – like sudden bombardment of issues and important decisions with no warnings. Trying to fit in, confused if your friends are right or parents , with obvious inclinations towards folks who are not a generation older than me. But, if you know anything about Indians , its Family being a huge part and priority of life with often blurred or non-existent boundaries. (This post won’t steer in the pros and cons of family direction 😂) All through the past two years I still continued to listen to people’s problems when I myself am on the verge of breakdowns. Holding myself accountable for people’s moods and well being when its not under my control at all . Taking on work when I am swamped with assignments already. Being part of activities or conversations which I am 100% aware will leave me exhausted. Over involved in other people’s relationships and problems. It was only in 2022 when I finally addressed and accepted to myself that I absolutely have to do something about it. I started with really small things
– No, I don’t really like that
– No I don’t want to eat that
– No I can’t listen to you today
– No I don’t want to talk about that right now
– No I can not participate in that I already have a lot on my plate

(source: pinterest)

I am not telling the importance of boundaries as a pro at setting them , or some dramatic change happened to me where suddenly i flipped from being a people pleaser. No, I am telling this as a fellow sufferer who ended up drained, bitter and blaming others for misery when the actual problem was my own inability to say a simple word-‘No’. I still rather often revert to my people pleasing ways, spending hours on phone calls or listening to people venting , supporting them , on days when I can not deal with it . But, I respect my own progress. In some huge life decisions, thoughts and ideals I protect and reaffirm my boundaries which I did not , even 10 months ago. From a person who had almost no individuality , today I am pretty confident in my own ideas. I still have a very long way to go but I know I have come a long way too. Small things count a lot. If I compare the usage of words -maybe, just and like – in my old posts , to their usage in current times , I see I have changed. I actually like the person who I am becoming , who can protect, love and care for herself and motivate others to do the same. Being a better individual isn’t beneficial only for ourselves but for those around us too.

There is so so much I can talk about this topic because saying no is just a small part of boundaries. Maybe a part 2 about like really small things people might not mention or count but are stepping stones to boundaries and rather easier than hugee steps. Famous saying in Hindi – ‘ Boond boond se sagar bharta hai’- Drop by drop fills the ocean. So comment if you would like more about this topic of boundaries. I might share some of the articles I found really helpful. (I do not want to spread any sort of false or harming info so will take some time to think if those sites are reliable or not).

(source: pinterest)

Lastly , very important, everything on the post is my personal opinion. There are 1000’s of articles on the same topic on the internet and I am aware of this. Personally I love getting to know about people’s lives, stories and struggles which makes us feel like we are not alone in thinking things, we are not weird or should be guilty of thoughts. And I love to hear your thoughts , any thoughts , whatever came to mind reading this post, do comment. Love you all. Take care.

We Are Back

(Source : Pinterest : Artrevisited.com) MISSED THIS BLOG SO MUCH

More than 1.5 years have passed since our last post. I don’t know how many of you are still subscribed to us. Did you wonder why we were gone? We started this when we were 15. Honestly thought about deleting some old posts but stopped because they are a part of us. And they are great from my or sakshi’s 15, 16 or 17 year old selves. Now we are both 18. Out of school , about to start college , massive changes await us.

I can never stop thinking about this piece I found on pinterest and it taught me so much about life which i never thought before.

Well I went off topic. So the reason we disappeared was this huge thing in every Indian student’s life ever , called Board exams and the entrances for colleges. But these were not the only things. 2021 started on a fine note. Schools opened a bit in February and March after a whole year of lockdown. We even gave our previous year’s finals. But then things went downhill with the devastating 2nd wave. I don’t recall much of April, May and June, so great was the shock, grief and fear of seeing people loose fights all around us. We pulled ourselves up just enough to not go insane, I dare say one of the toughest year’s of our lives. Sakshi struggled with her own issues and sanity too. Many times I did open the blog, typed the heading but then deleted the draft because words failed me in expressing everything that happened.

Courage isn’t having the strength to go on – It is going on when you don’t have the strength.

– Napolean Bonaparte

First half of 2022 was spent in exams and entrances and struggling to understand the responsibilities which come with adulting. But 2022 was better. At least for me it was way better than the nightmare of last year. I don’t talk about this beyond people who are really close to me, but not just in COVID I have struggled with my mental health for maybe 4 or 5 years now. I was too young to know how to express myself in the early years but now I have reached the point where looking back I do say I was struggling. 2022 has been in many ways a life changing year. I would love to share more about this in coming days and lots of new posts.

A sneak peek of my growth elements!

The aim of this post is to provide a sincere explanation to our absence. I won’t apologize because I have developed enough self love to accept that it’s okay to prioritize myself enough and know that I did the best I could in the situations I was in. But we did owe an explanation.

So folks we are back. For regular and real now. I have a lot to share. I think we matured a lot these years and would love to share the journeys and not only the ups but the downs, struggles and hardships too. Nightmares are also dreams. Mistakes and hurt teach us a lot. Grief, confusions and doubts are a part of us we can’t really part from. So in this little dreamland, I want to talk about all of it the good, the horrible, the fun and the pain . I do have a strong belief that we are all unique in ourselves but also we are similar to each other in more ways than we know and experience a lot of things which aren’t talked about and make us feel alone, but we aren’t. Hopefully some of you will find pieces of yourselves among us too as we do in you. Lots of love to all.

Give a brief story of how your blog started….
Calling out from the very beginning, all started through a pouty winter project last year. Whenever there was any group project or making of a pair, we knew the other person would be staring right at us, we’d exchange the unspoken expression-aware of what the eye and brow pogo just delivered, haha. So, we decided to team up and make our information technology project together. Among many other alternatives we chose blogging, the concept resonated with our palate. We decided to meet at one of our homes and start the arrangement, so we did. We made a website but had not really decided any name so that was spontaneous, and therefore ‘The Little Dreamland’ came into existence. We wanted a space where we could express our pondering thoughts freely and willingly. It’s visible that we did not enclose our blog into any specific division of idea or theme, we had decided that we’ll write and post anything from our hearts, that’s the only rule. There aren’t any boundaries or limits for writing here. WordPress is like a small house to us, where only both of us reside, with big windows that protect us from the exterior harshness of the world but don’t steal our vision from it, enables us to watch the beauties and horrors out there. We share some genuine and indubitably awesome neighbors, like the one reading this right now (*wink*). Since it has been created and the first post landed on our page, our society has been sprouting and developing. We hope to never stop coming back here…. Thank you for being a part of our journey.

Two pieces of advice to new bloggers….
1. As you start your website there are a lot of things that you assimilate along the way. Admire the people whose posts you genuinely adore and relate to. You are not obligated to follow back each and every person you come across. Choose to follow only those with whom you resonate truly, do it freely without any pressure.
2. Well , we are novice here so can’t suggest much but as readers, personally we love the ideas , thoughts or posts which can portray what the writer actually thinks or goes through. Somehow knowing others personal experiences makes us relate more to them, and originality is really attractive. Initially we started posts about general things without much of our personal views but then there was an unplanned post by Sakshi ‘Career Tension’ from personal experience, which still stands to be the most liked and viewed post on our blog. After this we started coming up with our original selves and likes and were pleasantly surprised to find so many lovely people liking and encouraging us. So yes, it feels great to find out how dissimilarly similar we all and our perspectives are.

Shhh, you’re cute and blooming 😉 have a wonderful day!

Sorry for answering late. A lot was going on. We’re glad we did 😊. Thank you for everything. Love ya guys 💝.

Coming to an end

A lot happened this year, world changing incidents that is. But in this post I am gonna share my experience of 2020.

Could totally relate to this !

A bitter-sweet year it had been. No not a balanced flavor at all . As bitter as bitter melon went the first half of the year. A nerve wrecking starting quarter due to boards (nightmarish high school exams in India feared by each 10th and 12th standard student), to a heart breaking loss of loved one. And of course the pandemic and prolonged lockdown in country, not meeting friends or even any other human except for my family ,all of it rubbing salt in the wounds. And as if all that wasn’t enough , I had this loong period of existential crisis , kind of total change to my life cause I finally fixed what I want to do in life (will tell ya once I achieve the goal) . But it was not the thing which I might have been preparing for like 2.5 years so ya it was a total nightmare to fix it, followed by a wave of relief (short lived, I think too much so that was quite a struggle). Studies are also a great pressure when you are in second last year of school and everything is online after you know we used to have IT practicals at school having written exam weightage! Well okay okay not being too dramatic. After this para of disaster lets move on to the nice parts.

Not exaggerating at all , but first four months were actually sh**y, except for brother returning from college (in another state) due to pandemic (I love my brother who is 5 year elder to me , a lot), and it was kinda surprise cause lockdown wasn’t imposed officially by then and my exams had just ended so I was over joyed when he knocked at the door one fine spring morning. And yesss! it was my nephew’s first birthday (cousin sister’s son, kinda youngest kid of family so is doted by all) on 22nd march for which we had many plans pre pandemic that is, but I still made a cute card for him (one of my best works I would call it) and it wasn’t that bad. They celebrated it at home nicely and we video called.

Yeah , that’s what I made!!

Okay nothing special for months. But ya a very positive thing happened which was that these few kids who had been classmates for years but we didn’t know much about each other (didn’t have many friends for past few years except Sakshi and Shweta , close one’s) . So we gotta know a lot more about people online than we could have ever in real life thanks to Whatsapp and other social media ( Social media is not as bad as the older generation thinks it is ). Now we are like the closest bunch and I personally wouldn’t want to delete 2020 after this. In July , board results were out and I had a really good percentage (top 3 in school) so everyone was happy. In the meanwhile I did a lot of painting and stuff( will put in on another post). In October, I came across a site with free books and well must have read almost 9 books in 2 months ( I was book starved , finished the books I had in march itself). I have read 13 books this year so far and would love to recommend them ( watch out for further posts). And then the best part of the year till now( drumroll). SO, taking all necessary precautions and the gathering limit in consideration my cousins wedding was held. He is a really close brother so I was super thrilled. We had to travel to other state by car ,a 12 hour ride(longest I ever sat in our car). It was awesome , all of it – journey, rituals, wedding and meeting people after 8 months. I created a handmade showpiece kind of gift for the couple (officially my best till now) and they were really happy.

I cut this without any templates , just drew them , used cutter and scissors!(proud me)

And I got to visit my grandparent(maternal) which we had planned to do so in April but lockdown struck. So they are also real old and missed us a lot and were overjoyed (both of us) on meeting. You know how nani ka ghar in India is , fully pampered I am there. Love them a lot.

My lovely nana and nani !

So , that was a hell of a year not so hellish towards the end (for me at least) . I bet all of us had this roller coaster in our lives. I thought it wouldn’t get any better at a point , was seriously defeated but then it worked out. I accept we can’t be positive at all times. It’s draining, and sometimes you just can’t see any kind of good side to things but the fact is, it all works out in the end. The wounds we think are never gonna heal, can still be there but no longer they influence us. The storm might destroy, all of it at times but it does stop and then you rebuild. 2020 might even be, I dare say the worst year in our lives but there must be at least 1 moment even more of them , when we had our families, when even after losing someone we were thankful we didn’t lose others, a moment which we won’t want to delete from our lives and that moment I believe was enough to live on, to not loose all hope yet.

At the end of this year I would just wish you all good health, happiness, love and most of all –hope, hope that however tough it gets , it works out in the end, it always does. Lets look forward to new beginnings, dump the pains, leave them behind, lets walk to the path of healing and welcome new year with hearts brimming with hope.

SELF DOUBT

BRAIN : Ain’t it too heavy , dear heart !

I don’t know how many of you suffer from this unsurmountable inner demon called ‘SELF DOUBT’. I have never been without it from start to end. Always so self-conscious, so to me there must be almost no one in the world who hasn’t ever doubted themselves.

I am in a constant fight with ……myself

It is the biggest and most prominent problem between me and my goals. There is always that lingering feeling of not enough in everything I have ever done. It wasn’t so evident growing up but entering the teenage it shot through the roof. Even after scoring good marks and grades, even standing among top scorers, I always feel that somehow I am not doing anything and just tricking everyone into believing that I am.

Am I me ?

I searched through quotes, through blogs, took personality tests and even mental health issues. The relatable one I came across was Imposter Syndrome, in which an individual feels like they are fooling people around them and are not actually capable while their accomplishments definitely prove otherwise, and they are very competent. I read that it is not like an illness; it’s more of a phase.

While I was processing all of this information, a common factor a stumbled upon in almost all of my troubles was my inner confidence. I always was more of an obedient child than not, following all my parents, elder brother or teachers said most of the time blindly as I was convinced of the concept of grown-ups always, yup always being correct, but as we all know that as we hit teens, we start becoming more self – dependent and then I realized and even yearned for a voice of my own but ….I just couldn’t find it.

Ughhhhh….

As I looked back, I found a massive load of small thoughts, jokes, opinions all strung up in my head. These included even the most negligible events of I guess children discussing cartoons. Like my friend is saying I like this Disney princess, and when I say I want the other one, and she says no she’s not so special why her, I accepted that my taste must suck forgetting to question why so. Well, of course, a Disney princess at the age of 4 is not a big deal, but as years passed by, my existence to me seemed more composed of what others thought about me than actually me. I started to search for my lost voice everywhere.

Just like the Disney princess in which it must be my lame choices or so I thought without anybody telling me that opinion of all matters, not only mine or only my friend’s but of all and everybody has a right to express it in a way which doesn’t belittle the other or hurts other but yup nobody told me that my voice counted. Today I struggle to believe in myself because I learned to question myself so as to avoid hurting others, but I forgot my own being.

The questions which I now ponder upon after all this jumble in my head are :

1. Are my happiness and content depending upon me?
•YES: Then why care what world says about your likes.
•NO: If it’s your happiness, why the world has the controller to it.

2. There is criticism to my thoughts.
•Do I actually do that?
•YES: If its a shortcoming indeed, I improve myself
• NO: If I still believe firmly after pondering over the fact logically , I stick to my opinion. Try convincing but if not then it’s totally fine , all of us got our perspectives.

In the end it’s up to us. We need to believe ourselves as well as others. Start respecting yourself more, give yourself the biggest smiles and those pats on the back for maybe even waking up on the third snooze alarm when you took ten(lol). Seriously cherish your existence more, you are the only one who is going to spend whole of life together with you, be it when you are laughing, crying or be it all those embarrassing secrets which only you can tell about yourself. Doubt your existence less. You are as real as the earth, solar systems, milky way and the galaxy existing. You are the best you made in the whole universe.

You are you , the best you to ever walk on earth.

Birthday Questionnaire

My birthday just passed by last week (sweet sixteen to me (。•̀ᴗ-)✧) and I stumbled across a really cool and intriguing idea on Pinterest. I considered it and vowed to do it every year. So this is how it works, I noted down 20 questions and then wrote genuine answers to them from my heart. Now I’ll answer the same set of questions every year, watch and analyse how I grow, my priorities and feelings change. I’ll read these answers to myself years later and catch sight of who I was back then? who am I now? Who would I be that day? Wouldn’t it be nice to descry how we change over the years, sprout and bloom. I would like some of the answers to transmute and refashion and others to remain just the way they are right now (◕ᴗ◕✿).

So here’s a list of questions that I asked myself:

  1. My favourite colour?
  2. My favourite song?
  3. My favourite snack?
  4. My favourite drink?
  5. My favourite book?
  6. My favourite hobbies?
  7. My favourite thing I own?
  8. Something I want to learn?
  9. What I want to be when I grow up?
  10. Who am I really?
  11. What am I scared of?
  12. What matters most in my life?
  13. Why would I want to continue living?
  14. What do I need to change about myself?
  15. Who has had the greatest impact on my life?
  16. How is my life different now, from what it supposed to be an year ago?
  17. If today was the last day of my life, how would I spend it?
  18. My favourite peeps(except for family)?
  19. What would I like to eat on my birthday?
  20. How did I spend my birthday this year?
Neverending possibilities!

If you find this interesting then you can change the concept or questions and make this idea unique and special in your peculiar way. Own it!

Different is beautiful! Eventually everything connects….

Inner conscious …..

Life, for one thing is not easy. It was not meant to be easy in the first place. But all the hardships and miseries we face make us stronger. That is what everyone says. Sometimes they break me apart, to the extent that I don’t care about coming back. That black void of beautiful darkness. Just leave me alone in there and I’ll be fine. I don’t want to face anyone. Not because I want to be alone and self synchronise, but more because I don’t want others to see that swollen face of mine. Why am I so conscious about that…. I don’t want to show them that weak and disdain notion of me. Does not matter what they’d think but they would configure me as being a person I’m not, those tears and broken pieces of my journey don’t define me. There’s more to it. That depth we always overlook is way more profound and lucid.

Are tears only contemplating fear, weariness, frailty and tapering off ? Isn’t it difficult to decipher all those emotions going around in our head? Why do all those emotions always end up with tears? I don’t want to see tears as a weakness! I think they’re rather that hidden tough amenity within us. You should never apologize for being sensitive and emotional, it’s a sign that you have a big heart, don’t be afraid of others to see it. Showing your emotions is a sign of strength.

There is a sacredness in tears. They are not the mark of weakness, but of power. They speak more eloquently than ten thousands of tongues. They are messengers of overwhelming grief, deep contrition and unspeakable love.

~Washington Irwin

Our inner voice is always playing tricks on us, sometimes felicitous sometimes despondent and at times vex and chafing. It’s always curious. Like a little baby, crawling from one emotion to another, from one toy to another, playful at a moment and napping at another. Why do we tend to always believe and follow it? Whatever it tells you is seldom right. And the fact, that approximately one third of all thoughts we have per day are negative and repetitive can not be rolled out. While our thoughts cascade down the waterfall of our mind it can be pretty exigent to reach the shore. It isn’t always wrong either, but taking actions in a hurry and trusting those feelings might cost us big. Our conscious is unaware of our subconscious and vice-versa. We are unique beings and have a lone mind but it’s still not the same, it is accompanied by our conscious which bids to overpower us in assorted ways. Sometimes we just don’t know how to react to a certain situation. There can be so much going on in there at once and it is overwhelming.

Why??!?!!

How do I even know who am I ? Why am I the way I am? Why do I exist? Why should I continue to live? What matters the most in my life? Am I a human being or a human doing?

Take your mind of things, sit back, talk to yourself and start anew!

These were just a random set of thoughts…

To my most pleasant surprise, Caz from Mental Health 360 nominated the site to yet another fabulous award. Visit her website to get to discover about mental health from this wonderfully experienced and motivating woman as well as coping strategies for a majority of problems. It’s been a real treat to know about her experiences and this amazing lady herself.

The rules for The Real Neat Blog Awards are simple:

1.Accept the nomination and thank the person who nominated you, leaving a link to their blog.

2.Answer the 10 questions

3.Nominate your chosen bloggers and send them a link to let them know they’ve been nominated.

4.Ask your nominees to participate by answering the same questions.

5.As part of being chosen for this award, I needed to answer 10 questions and nominate up to 10 people that I feel deserve the award as well. So here are my answers. The questions my nominees will need to answer are the same ones that I answered.

·     Questions

  • What is your favourite colour?
  • This is a simple yet difficult question. I like almost all the colours, but my favourite ones can be black and white. There are the most remarkable combinations of both of them together.
I painted this !
  • Who would you say you admire the most?
  • At present, the person I admire the most is my dearest friend Sakshi. She, without even knowing, sometimes gives this immense strength to take one step at a time, motivate me to live, not to worry, live the life we got. She has got her struggles, troubles and problems too but we figure them out together, and she is a person I can talk about everything crazy or anything that comes to my mind (I am very reserved otherwise). In all, this goofy young lady whose writings are a superhit on the blog is a fantastic friend someone could wish for.
She is the winnie the pooh for me
  • If you could describe yourself as a colour, what would it be and why?
  • I would describe myself as blue. I have always admired the sky a lot. It’s vastness, how it stays there over everyone watching them do their thing. It sometimes cries, a little or maybe too much(storm) but it is always there when I look up in all of its diverse shades.
It is there, always and forever.
  • Where is your favourite place on earth, and what makes it so special?
  • I don’t have like a place more like a spot and that too only if I am alone there and that’s my home’s balcony. Every time whenever I feel just fed up or stuffy inside the house, I go out with my favourite songs plugged in. I can stand there for hours just watching the street but more greatly the sky and the stars I track at night. It gives me hope and reason for living. There are so many stars that I haven’t seen yet and so much to do. If a star lightyears away from me can give me such great happiness then so can I to the people I love and that all matter, the smallest twinkling star to the polite smile you give to a stranger just passing by. (wrote too much on it, didn’t I )
My mind is peacefully chaotic here.
  • What is your favourite food, and why?
  • I don’t have a favourite food in particular because it depends on the mood. Still, I would love anything having Paneer(a common ingredient in India somewhat similar to I guess cottage cheese but not the same). I love it because I think it blends as well with everything as potatoes do. Yes! I love chocolates they just let me clear my head very rare it is for me to reject a beautiful piece of Cadbury(yup that was intentional)  but when that happens either I am too stuffed or maybe in panic and too stressed to eat even …air ?
forgot to mention this smoking beauty!
  • What is your favourite book of all time?
  • A really really tough choice but I would like to categorise it into two: Fiction and Non-fiction.

In fiction, I am a die-hard fan of Lord Of Rings. I loved the book so much that I have like decided to avoid the movie as long as I can because that 1000+ paged fantasy didn’t just spark imagination, but it motivates me how a next to impossible task was managed only by will. How they kept going even if the result they expected was negative, but they went on and achieved it! (Didn’t want to drop any spoilers, hate them)

In non-fiction, I must have already mentioned earlier, and it’s Tuesday’s with Morrie – Mitch Albom. The ideas of life and its meaning just transformed, and it taught me to think which unknowingly we all do a very little. Books by Mark Manson- ‘The Subtle Art of Not Giving A Fuck’ and ‘Everything is Fucked’ are also favourites of mine with his diverse rebelling thoughts about all we do while living.

This is me ! RIP my imagination…..(cry)
  • Why do you enjoy writing and blogging?
  • Being the youngest in the family, I am often tagged as naïve, and my ideas are not heard that seriously. Except for two crazy friends of mine, almost nobody takes things seriously, so I had this urge to see maybe just if I can write it all out, more like I was frustrated so just decided to leap. Sakshi was equally frustrated then we had a project to finish, so we started. I like it when you can inspire even a stranger, how I get motivated and not so lonely in the company of people I have never known. I am fascinated by the diversity of perspectives.
it is worth it all!
  • What type of music do you enjoy?
  • I am a great admirer of soft, slow music along with songs having meaningful lyrics. A few exceptions are there though.
  • What are your favourite hobbies (besides writing) and why do you like them?
  • I love painting, sketching and art in general. Also, I love reading books related to psychology or fiction (not coursebooks). Art gives me a medium to express my creativity while reading gets my imagination and dreams flowing. Both the activities empower me with a sense of calm and are a representation of my individuality for me.
I wish it could be just like this ….
  • What are your favourite song and singer/band?
  • A few days ago in a random video, there was this song in the background ‘welcome to wonderland’, and it led me to Anson Seabra, a singer whose songs are entirely my thoughts and feelings moulded into words, so it has to be him. Then there is this song by Morgan Wade ‘ The Night ‘ which I listen to, a lot.
Music heals the worldly wounds

Project ; Semicolon

I came across this  beautiful semicolon ; tatoo while surfing through my Pinterest feeds , but what caught my eye was a caption below it ,

” PROJECT ; SEMICOLON”

Now my curiosity perked up and I surfed through links and struck this wonderful idea , project related to suicide prevention and mental health  Project Semicolon .

I thought a lot about how a simple Semicolon can send such a deep message , can give such sudden hope in dark . It gives you choice and power . Choice to continue the battle and win it and power to make that choice. It gives you authority of your own life , it’s your life , you can change it , go on and face it , give a tough battle and win. Didn’t the little Semicolon just fill you with huge hope , so you can do much greater things. Live to experience all the joy , the sorrow , the pains and triumphs . Whenever you feel like giving up , giving up that struggle , that dream or even life , remind yourself with this semicolon that you could’ve ended it a long time ago but you chose not to for that one hope , loved one , wish and more than anything yourself . You chose not to give up on yourself ; not just yet .

I had been procrastinating for a long time. It has been more than a month since I did any post , although I had found it in mid May . I thought of giving up blogging thinking that I am not up to it , but then I sawagain . What I think when about to give up on life and stuggle , when I feel useless and like I can never do anything is that ain’t failure a part of learning . If we already knew everything why would we explore . If I knew how to do it , what’s the point of learning . Isn’t Life like that too ? We go on exploring all corners of it , the happy moments , the sad ones , the hard to forget ones , parting from loved ones and coming to love a person who we met a few months ago , going through the highs and the lows but still going . Going on to explore the hidden mysterious caves .

At last the purpose of sharing this with you all was to tell you to remember , remember that unknown are not known by anyone , they can’t be. Nobody can see the future, but we can keep moving forward to discover . We can continue the journey till the end; when we could have chosen not to .
